I recall when Dessie told Ambrose that Boon called him a black bastard. Pretty low stuff."Tough but that's Test cricket" was the quote from Dessie Haynes, I'm led to believe.
lol......I just love the titles of your videosIndeed that was the rule, and it still is, the umps just didn't know it. Useless. The laws certainly weren't changed after that game, more like the umpires got a LESSON in umpiring from Bob Simpson.

What? He actually did that?I recall when Dessie told Ambrose that Boon called him a black bastard. Pretty low stuff.
What do you think would have happened if Benaud had bowled him from the other end?Worst Umpiring decision for me is easy....Ian Meckiff being "called" by, I think, Col Egar at a gabba test. It was a set up. They(the acb) wanted him out of the team and this way they got rid of him permanently. A real travesty.
Archie I feel Meckiff was a set up. Spoke to him many years after and he honestly believes his bowling action is NOT suspect but at that particular time he had upset some personnel on the ACB and this was definitely payback.I have no doubt whatsoever if Benaud had bowled him from the other end the result would have been the same. What do you think would have happened if Benaud had bowled him from the other end?
I'm willing to take your word on Meckiff's action. And good info that! From my own personal viewpoint, the Gabba in those days was very good for spectators and i do not believe his action was suspect, and I had played the game for some time at areasonably high level so I figured I knew what I was looking at.
So we finally have an inside scoop on MeckiffArchie I feel Meckiff was a set up. Someday, a relative or a good investigative sports reporter will find out the truth and write the story but until then he has been maligned as a "chucker"

Regarding the Ponting one, 1998 vs India? I uploaded that one yesterday, go back a page or two or check my channel. I'll locate the McCullum one for you!!!!!Robelinda - Do you have the vid of McCullum's LBW decision off Michael Clarke's bowling in Perth a few years back, when the replays clearly showed he'd actually middled it to the guy fielding on the 45?
Recall the same thing happened to Ricky a few years before it when it looked like he'd be caught salmon on his crease, but the replays showed it'd hit nothing but the edge. I think it was in Pakistan in 1995?
Very interesting. Meckiff didnt look so back though a couple looked dodgy, especially Jim Burke. They were right something had to be done but there was no need to humiliate Meckiff. For those of you who are interested here is a 2 part interview with some very famous names and footage. The most telling part is towards the end of part 2 when Ian after talking with Egar today has been assured his bowling action, if he was still playing, would be LEGAL!

I thought it was Border, as I have read Border's autobiography and a very similar story in that, except it was Garner who was bowling.I can't recall the exact story, but Boon fended off a bouncer to Haynes at short leg, Haynes said something like "not getting many drives away eh Boonie", to which Boonie replied "well this bastard never pitches it up!", Dessie runs down to Ambrose and says - apparently- 'Boonie just called you a black bastard, kill him", or some crap like that. Obviously Boon was a highly regarded cricketer, I don't doubt for one moment that Ambrose would ever think an international cricket was racially sledge him, so it was probably a joke to put some fear into Boon, because Haynes told Boon what he said when he got back to short leg! I do have footage of what i *think* is the incident, obviously you can't tell what is happening.
Damn. Could have swarn it was McCullum. I thought it was that combination because i'm sure it was a sla bowling around the wicket to a right hander. I'll try and think harder. Either way, i lol'd when i saw it live.Cant find McCullum being lbw ever to Clarke, and only once at Perth ever, against Shaun Tait, might have to look at every lbw against McCullum vs Australia unless you can rethink?
Bloody hell. Tony Lock's is bad, but Burke's and Rourke's defy belief. For those of you who are interested here is a 2 part interview with some very famous names and footage.
