    I dunno, looks a 140-150 par pitch.

Kohli's record in India was pretty meh until this year (17 matches, Avg. 46.0, 3 tons, 7 fifties, HS 107). Rashid, Mo and Co have helped him plump it up quite a bit. Before then Kohli always looked much better on pacier pitches in Australia and South Africa. This series is a bit of a freak given...

It would be stupid. Cook is an opening batsman. The major flaw is his discipline outside off (however, it takes a very disciplined bowler to exploit it) and his flick in the leg slip region against spin.

Surely this is the best option for the summer: Cook (c) Jennings Hameed Root Bairstow (w) Stokes Buttler Ali Woakes Broad Anderson

Both of those touring teams were very special. This young lot has yet to move from promising to special. Swann made an enormous difference and we just don't have a replacement anywhere on the horizon. If only Joe Root had been born 7 or 8 years earlier, would have kept Bell out of the team and...

India spinner Ravindra Jadeja on TMS: "It was unfortunate we couldn't break through in the morning session but we were very confident, they were about 100 for no loss in Bangladesh and collapsed there as well." Zing! Sir Ravi should enjoy this. Sweet revenge and Jimmy should keep his mouth shut.

England have lost consecutive games by an innings after posting 400 in the first knock. That's only happened twice in history before this series. Is Cook cooked?

Despite this 50, I want to see Duckett at 4. Hameed should have opened in this game with Ballance consigned to the trash can for the foreseeable future.

Harris showed if you plug away at 4th stump, Cook will poke at one eventually. Perhaps he was particularly bad in 2013 and 2013/14 but everyone copied him and it continued to work. Execution of that plan seems to have got poorer as time elapsed.

Will Alastair Cook go on to surpass Tendulkar's test run tally?

The two major factors: Rhino and a regression in Cook's leaving ability. Harris really made Cook question his technique and the legacy of that meant he went 2014 without a hundred.

You're probably right, although I think if Kerrigan hadn't been murdered by Watson at the Oval, he would have been a 30-34 avg spinner. Cook's poor (and extremely negative) captaincy at the time didn't help him and the nerves got to him, especially after Watson took his first over for 10 and his...

It's weird because Mo is a "bits-and-pieces" cricketer. I used to really slag off Dwayne Bravo and Darren Sammy as test players but Mo is no better averaging 30 with the bat and 40 with the ball.

I'm not so sure. If Anderson gets a flaying on the roads they'll prepare down under for the next Ashes, his final career average could be just the right side of 30.

Moeen really needs to be dropped. That big ton against Sri Lanka was delaying the inevitable.

Root will be in the 80s. Doubt he would declare on Root so close to twins as well.
