Utter ****ing **** from Cook this series, didn't perform with the bat and his captaincy has been truly pathetic, remove the captaincy from him, get Jennings and Hameed in and have the batting order be:

Hameed
Jennings
Cook
Root (c)
Moeen
Stokes
Bairstow +
Woakes
Rashid
Broad
Anderson

Woakes/Rashid/Broad/Anderson are our mainline bowlers, keep using Stokes like he has (other than this tour) and use Moeen as the make something happen option.

Yeah probably. Given the schedule, we're going to need 5 or 6 bowlers in the side.
I'd prefer not to dump the captaincy on Root yet, but things have been so poor lately that there isn't much option.

It's such a shame from an England perspective that two of the finest acheivements in modern Englosh cricketing history - the 2010/11 Ashes and the win in India in 2012 - have been followed up with 2 capitulations the next time round.
Both of those touring teams were very special. This young lot has yet to move from promising to special. Swann made an enormous difference and we just don't have a replacement anywhere on the horizon. If only Joe Root had been born 7 or 8 years earlier, would have kept Bell out of the team and replaced Pietersen after 2014...

Saw BadInfo had a poll up on Twitter about who was India's player of the year between Kohli and Ashwin and it was fairly neck to neck.

Surely the answer is Ashwin though, the man with the body, the batting, the bowling and the brains?
not considering ODIS and T20s as well. Kohli fairly comfortably.

Such a long winter and it is not even Christmas yet, not an excuse but the scheduling has been fairly ridiculous this year.

We can forget about Tests for a while now at least, although not sure that is going to help us in the long term.
Yeah the scheduling this winter has been insane and no help at all.

It's not an excuse but it doesn't help the spectacle when your best players are missing because their workloads need to be managed because you've crammed a 5 Test series into the space of 6 weeks.

Moeen in top 6 against the likes of South Africa and Australia is asking for trouble.

lol. You still pick both Moeen and Rashid after this. You still pick Moeen at 5. lol. People complain about the selectors and then most of the English fans seem to be in agreement to bat Moeen at 4 or 5, and to play two spinners in England???

4-0. Wow. Sounds so better than 3-0.

Wish Rajkot test was played instead at an established test center. Sigh.

So much for the theories :

1. Win toss win match
2. Bat first, bat long and win
3. Indians can win only on dustbowls
4. Cook > Kohli in reviewing
5. Stokes is superman incarnate
6. India is nothing without Kohli and Ashwin.

on and on.

Kohli looks determined this year and Pujara is also in form. Besides, Rahane does his downhill skiing every now and then and Ashwin is a beast. England are unlikely win a test but I wouldn't be surprised if they drew a few.
Post 13. Nice to be proven right.

Surely this is the best option for the summer:

Cook (c)
Jennings
Hameed
Root
Bairstow (w)
Stokes
Buttler
Ali
Woakes
Broad
Anderson
