Which Was the Worst Possible Umpiring Decision That You Have Seen

Wouldn't that still be technically out under the old law? Wouldn't be out nowadays I think.

it is pertaining to tendulkar's farcical runout in the test match vs pakistan at kolkota, where he collided with shoiab aktar at the bowler's end with bat in mid air at time of ball hitting the stumps

the idiotic ump forgot to check previous 2 seconds footage when he actually had grounded his bat but had subsequently left crease to avoid injury.

it was a big turning point in the match.
didn't sachin's bat involuntarily leave the crease because of the collision with Akhtar? It wasn't that he purposefully leave the crease did he? I think they may have given him out because he was not in control of the situation. I have not seen the video again though

I am not sure now that spark said, whether the law was there back then.

But if it was there, then I believe it should have been given not out. whether it was voluntary or not, because it is an action, by reflex to avoid injury.

IIRC nowadays if you ground your bat and then it's accidentally knocked out of the crease by the bowler or something, you should be fine, but definitely before recent years, if it got accidentally knocked out of the crease by the bowler or something and you were run out, then you were technically out - you'd have to be recalled by the opp (which you should be IMO).

Can't remember anyone being recalled because their bat was grounded before it was in the air. It was generally considered that it was the batsman's responsibility (and rightly so) to keep something grounded.

Yet another rule change to help those defenseless little batsmen. 8-)

What about this, the worst lbw of all time. It pitched outside off and spun towards off, and the umpire had his finger up before the bowler could turn. Look at Gatting's response!

Shakeel and Qadir were an awesome combination, perhaps the best ever, and certainly one of the most watchable.

The disgracefully biased Darrell Hair might be forgiven for wondering how many effigies of Shakeel Khan ever got burned by Pakistani fans.

To be fair to Shakeel Khan, he was capable of screwing Abdul Qadir over as well. In the same match he gave Qadir out stumped even before England's keeper Bruce French had removed the bails.

Things really have moved on in the last decade or two. I think most of us at least reckon that Test umpires are straight, even though some might be less good at their job than others. In the 80s there were genuinely one or two umpires that you really did wonder about.

Wasn't it changed earlier this year?
