Which Was the Worst Possible Umpiring Decision That You Have Seen

Dave Randall gave Paul Rieffel not out off Pushpakumara incutter, where ball flew to 1st slip.

Ross Emerson calling Murali's leg breaks.

The king of it how ever is Hair penalizing Pakistan with five runs for ball tampering.

IIRC nowadays if you ground your bat and then it's accidentally knocked out of the crease by the bowler or something, you should be fine, but definitely before recent years, if it got accidentally knocked out of the crease by the bowler or something and you were run out, then you were technically out - you'd have to be recalled by the opp (which you should be IMO).
Dulip Samaraweera was given run out against NZ after grounding the bat when he jumped in the air to avoid a throw. So that was the law that time.

Lee wasn't confused, and iirc Bowden apologised to him later. Cost about 30 odd runs. That combined with the obvious mint-inspired cheating from the Poms means the result should be reversed

Was a great series.
No no, I meant I was confused at the time. Although I wasn't standing 22 yards away behind the bowlers' end stumps.

Should have called a fair number of his 'off breaks' as well.

You may not be aware that BOTH umpires would have to agree on the ball tampering. The ball had, since they last checked it suffered damage that did not come from the bat or from any other area. Therefore an umpire would have to assume it was caused by the fielding side.

The problem here was that the Pakistanis threw their toys and refused to come out after tea. Actually there was far more leeway given to them than is laid down in the Laws.

Just think, had it been the England team doing that firstly they'd have got no sympathy(Botham's comments on the day were appalling), secondly many in the team, and certainly the captain, would never have played again.

In that same Edgbaston test in the second dig, there was a chronic lbw on Simon Jones with Brett Lee bowling, also given not out by Bowden. By chronic, I mean it was a full toss which hit him shin high on the back pad in front of middle stump.

It was so out, you could have used it as a text book example of an lbw.

Still think nothing comes close to Gatt's reaction in the one linked in the thread. Whenever I feel a tad blue, I have a look at that video and feel better, a bit like the highlights of England 1 - Australia 3 from a few years back.
Oh i dont recall he Jones lbw, i'll look it up and post it here, if someone hasnt done it already.

Shocking Billy Bowden umpiring, PLUMB AS YOU WILL EVER SEE, not out from Billy! - YouTube

I remember seeing that live and thinking it was going down...so did Nicholas and Boycott, obviously. So whilst it was absolutely plumb, you couldn't call it the worst. Just a ball that stumped the batsman, the umpires, the commentators and me.

As a passionate Windies fan, I have a few decisions that went against us that will always stick in my mind, sometimes not just because of the poorness of the decision but because of the context as well. But this particular one irritates me still to this day:

Paul Collingwood vs Jerome Taylor, Lords Test 2007, 2nd day. Umpire= Rudi Koertsen

After a very poor first day, Jerome came back to bowl an amazing spell of reverse swing with the old ball. He beat Collingwood several times outside the off stump with perfectly pitched outswingers delivered at about 88mph. He then completely befuddled Collingwood with an inducker, which the batsman left like a dunce and subsequently got hit on the pads. It was hitting half way up the off stump, but was inexplicably given not out. Geffrey Boycott was incandescent with rage, even as a proud Englishman. Cricinfo described it thus:

"Taylor to Collingwood, no run, howzat? Not out, apparently, though it's not at all clear why. Outside off, nipping right back and rapping Collingwood, who just left it, right on the knee roll. It didn't look too high either and I suspect Collingwood's had another let-off there"

Even ignoring the fact that I was a big Taylor fan and hated watching Collywobbles bat and he went onto make an extremely undeserved century, the fast bowler in me was furious that a batsman could be so completely owned like that and still be allowed to continue his innings. That moment summed up an unhappy tour during which we performed terribly and almost every decision went against us.
