You'd be amazed if someone was pushing a single-figure average against Bangladesh, let alone vs. Dravid, Laxman, Tendulkar.

Rather makes a mockery of the 'Would Stuart Broad make India's Strongest XI?' question, doesn't it?

with this kind of a bowling attack and good bowling replacements not on the horizon I wonder how downhill will India go once the big four retire?

They have always been good at home but after the big four I can't see them doing too well with a team like this.
A long way down if they can't produce some decent bowlers, I have no doubt they will be able to produce decent batsmen, but will they be Test match batsmen?

We'll do allright in terms of Batsman and Test match batsman too after the Big 3 go.

There are a number of options who have potential to be very good, but the problem would be that they may not obviously be at a Dravid, Tendulkar level or the level Laxman has been in the recent past and may struggle for experience at the start.
Can see then the team going back to being gun only at home period(**** away) of the 90's again for a while.

Same with Pakistan. we are producing garbage T20 batsmen.
Yeah man. Up till the mid 90s we used to have decent batsmen coming in. How the **** did we get to a point where you don't see a single batsman coming up who can be called world class.

Most of the upcoming batsmen are probably not even good at T20

With all the flair and aggressiveness that Umar Akmal possesses, the more I watch the lad bat the more I get the feeling that his only objective in mind is to hit the ball so hard every time that it breaks into pieces eventually. Someone needs to tell him that batting isn't about how hard you hit the cricket ball, it's about for how long you can go on hitting it without getting out.

That is the problem you see by world class I meant players who can do well in all formats all over the world (or at least a good portion of the globe). What we seem to be getting are pathetic batters or people like Umar Akmal, and Azhar Ali who have the talent but are short of application. Especially Umar Akmal.

After the 3 world-class batsmen in Inzi, Yousuf and Younis you have almost stopped producing test class batsmen, let alone world class...Most of your batsmen give the impression that test cricket is a level too high for them...

Inzi was early 90s and yousuf was mid to late 90s. The only decent batsman on the noughties is Younis and the buck stops there. I don't quite understand what the problem is. Something like India suffering with fast bowlers I think. But this seems to be worse than the Indian problem in the sense that it was not that we never had any good batsman. For some reason they just seem to have dried up and none seems to tbe on the radar

hang on

don't think it will happen but it would be nice if it did, since it would be some kind of balm over the rioting wounds, assuming sport can ever have such an effect. like the chennai test, in a manner of speaking. also, would have the added advantage of resulting in a massive amounts of the yellow stuff sticking to the jowls of the bcci mandarins....one hopes.

backing the wrong horses for long periods hurt us we produced many duds in 80's and 90's too remember the likes of Shakeel Ahmed,Moin ul Atiq,Rizwan Uz Zaman? the thing is they were immediately identified as short of test class and shown the door after a few games. It boggles my mind how can the likes of Imran Farhat,Yasir Hameed or Faisal Iqbal can go on to play 20+ test matches they looked hopeless in their first and 2nd go's yet they were persisted with for such long periods.Batsman like Yasir Hameed,Faisal Iqbaland Mohammad Hafees average 30's in FC cricket how can one expect them to suddenly become gun 40+ averaging test match batsman.

Even though I voted no, a whitewash seems sorta inevitable somehow.

Thing is, the weather will **** up somehow.

Actually, it would:

England 3-0 - 57/25 (3.28)
England 4-0 - 147/50 (3.94)
England 3-1 - 51/10 (6.10)
England 2-1 - 6/1 (7)
England 2-0 - 8/1 (9)
Drawn 2-2 - 16/1 (17)
Those odds after Edgbaston:

England 4-0 - 21/20 (2.05)
England 3-0 - 38/25 (2.52)
England 3-1 - 51/10 (6.1)

It's on now, surely?
