Dare I say that it's possible that the bowlers prepared better for the Indian series than for the Pakistani series? It's what good teams do.

better prep by the bowlers and what about the batsmen??? Better prepared bowlers does not excuse terrible performance by the batsmen

There's a lot of rain forecast. But I think the Oval wicket probably suits England over India better than any other ground in the country.

The forecast is patchy at best and appalling in places. Three full days might be all the play that we get. It also might be all that we need.

Interesting to note we haven't whitewashed a series of three or more Tests (or alternatively a series against anyone other than Bangas) since the golden summer of 2004. Weather tends to make it difficult before we even consider the difficulty of the oppo and our own ****-ups.
We haven't made a habit of it full stop. There's only two other instances in the last 40 years IIRC - against India in 1974 and NZ in 1978.

I think the lost afternoon was day three not two and I counted two sessions being lost from that day for some reason. Close enough.
