Group E (Super 8) - Pakistan, South Africa, New Zealand, England

Jesus, that's a good take. Botha absolutely middles one back to Sid and he takes it in his follow through. 126/9 with 11 to come.

3fer for Sidebottom. I've slagged him off, but he has bowled excellently today, and been good in the field. Fine performance from England, should boost the NRR and make it all but impossible for us to go out.

That's yer lot then. 39 runs the margin. Spanking, tbh. Done our NRR no end of good, I'm sure.

SA never looked like getting there, really. &, given the difficulty they had chasing 168, it shows what a farce the DL target was for the Windies when we'd made (IIRC) 191.

Breaking news Kevin Pietersen will return to the UK in the next 24 hours. It's baby time for KP! "Provided there are no complications he will return to the Caribbean in time for the semi-finals," according to the ECB.
Least he should be back in time for the Semi's (should we get there). Good news, be gutting if he missed a key game.

1. Great performance by England
2. Bresnan at 7? Ahead of Swann and Yardy? Baffling
3. Yardy and Botha being highly effective bowlers = shocking indictment of what T20 is about
4. Bedwetter's doing just fine. Give him time
5. England finally finally finally getting the hang of limited overs stuff. It's never really happened before. And now at last we look like genuine contenders. We could go all the way this time. Probably won't, but we could.

England in a canter, SA seems clueless in the shorter forms and lacks hitters at the top of the order. Gibbs and Smith look gone. Father time and injuries have caught up with them. SA's bowling is too one-dimensional and based around sheer pace which can backfire if the pitch is not conducive to it. England's spinners had it all over them while SA doesn't have a genuine spinner. Amazing that they've held Duminy back so long when he looked their best batsman in the IPL.

Top performance from the younger McCullum

Hope the Kiwis get up as I could honestly see them going close to winning the whole thing if they do
Older McCullum*

Younger McCullum has been dire throughout the tourney. If he isn't going to keep he needs to show more with the bat.

Nicol or Redmond in for Guptill next match?

Guptill is atrocious against spin, can't turn the strike over, gets bogged down and has to hit out...which so far hasn't worked either.

Missed this game as I was at work but this is all very strange, looks like we might finally have got the hang of this twenty20 thing.

Will lose to Australia in the final mind.
