Whatever it takes!!!
I'm using the same logic for Bevan and assume he’ll easily get in (I simply have to vote for Viv, can't help myself). I’m gonna throw some love at Zaheer. He was a seriously good ODI player. I think the passage of time, and the fact there weren’t as many games televised back then, has eroded his impact on people’s memories.
who is the third? :)

Cricketer Of The Year
Viv Richards, Ricky W Ponting and Michael Bevan for me.

God, these things are difficult. There's no real way of knowing if these three are any better than, say, Lara, Jones and Hussey, or Javed, Symonds and Zaheer.

It's even harder with the fast bowlers mind you.

I reckon that if we picked a 2nd XI it would have an excellent chance of beating the 1st XI.

Would have really liked...

Lara, Sachin = Openers
Viv, Abbas, Dhoni, Bevan = MO

Difference between Lara and Gilly as opener is greater then difference between Dhoni and Gilly as a keeper.

Viv, Ponting and Dhoni for me.
Yeah, same here. Symonds a bit unlucky to miss out for me. Compares quite well with Ponting because he also brings handy bowling and superhuman fielding to his ability to score extremely quickly. But despite this I still had to go with Ponting. I suppose I just consider Ponting almost synonymous with success in ODI cricket.

Was pretty much my though process, I absolutely love Symonds as a limited overs cricketer. Can turn matches on their head with the bat or with a brilliant piece of fielding as well as being a decent option with the ball but I just couldn't leave out Ponting.

This is exactly the kind of nerdy indulgence I have grown to love. It's like a dirty secret posting on these threads late at night

Anyway, team 1 quite easily when you look at it.

I definitely think Team B would struggle against Team A's attack moreso than the other way round. They'd annihilate most sides pretty equally but I think Team A would have an edge when they were pitched against each other.

Team 1 has a bowler too many for my liking - 6 specialist bowlers is at least one too many given that all 4 of the other batsmen can bowl more or less respectable part-time stuff. But tbh it's hard to say it's a real weakness.

Went Richards, Hussey and Symonds.

Richards is the best. Hussey i rate as better than Bevan both as a batsman and fielder. Symonds has a very solid average at aa SR of over 90. He is also one of the best fielders ever and can bowl medium or spin.

What's the point of bowling when your bowling isn't good? or even decent?

Team 2 is more balanced than Team 1. Pollock knows how to handle the bat but he's not good enough to bat at #7 on a world 11 team.

I'd have Saqlain for Warne, Donald over Waqar.

Miandad is a weak choice there, I'd have Inzamam there. Loved to have de Silva there, but his batting is on par with Miandad

Team 2

1. S Jayasuriya
2. M Hayden
3. B Lara
4. Inzamam
5. A Symonds
6. L Klusener
7. MS Dhoni
8. I Khan
9. S Mushtaq

klusener and symonds could still make it to team 1. even dhoni and pollock and imran and hadlee could. i think team 2 should wait till this process is over

Zaheer Abbas(superb ODI player) instead of Miandad/Inzamam in team 2.

And i would have Klusener instead of cairns in team 1.

Personally leaving their test reputations aside ,I would have Saqlain Mushtaq ahead of warne in team 2 and perhaps even ahead of Murali in team 1.
