Your Favourite Cricketer...

My first favourite cricketer was Michael Slater.

Mathew Sinclair for favourite ever though, comfortably. I supported him as a player with greater passion than I've supported any team in any sport, I think.

EDIT: Heh, just noticed the M.S. thing. Cool. My second most loathed cricketer ever is MS Dhoni though.

wow.....MS Dhoni is your second most loathed cricketer EVER?

Who is your most loathed cricketer ever?

Brummie-born Queenslander, int he? What's to like?

To watch it's unquestionably Lara for me; lithe, quicksilver little genius that he was.

However as an all-round package Rahul Dravid is impossible not to love just a little bit. Resolute and unbending an opponent as he was, he also had a deft lightness of touch and, crucially, understood the ethos of the sport like no-one else. Just a champion bloke.

In all seriousness though, I can't really narrow it down that far. I'll try and get it down to an XI though.

Shane Bond. Amazing bowler but also comes across as the nicest, most humble cricketer.

I'm also a big fan of Rahul Dravid and Jacques Kallis.

Those days, the Aussie ODI XI looked something like:

Mark Taylor
David Boon
Dean Jones
Allan Border*
Steve Waugh
Mark Waugh
Ian Healy+
Merv Hughes
Craig McDermott
Paul Reiffel
Mark Whitney

Perhaps, they didn't play 4 specialist pace bowlers and played a spinner instead. But I'm failing to recollect who that spinner used to be....Tom Moody? Tim May?
