Ha ha, hell of a side. Though personally I reckon Compton and/or Woolley would be musts in any hypothetical all time England ODI side.

Oh, and Gilbert Jessop. :)

Amazing how Botham get's in all the English sides here, despite his record being average in this form.

Yet we haven't got anyone much better though, I suppose.

Botham spent a good 4 years in the England team based on what he might do rather than actual performance, and that's how he gets in here.

And yet Knighty's still there, fabulous.

Thoughts on Rhodes? Verity?
When I started it was going to be one legend and one based on ODI performance alternately but when I got passed Pietersen I couldn't be arsed and just made the rest up of quality cricketers instead.

Love the bowling attack, Trueman, Snow opening, with Freddie and Botham waiting in the wings, Underwood and Hammond for the middle overs.

So many bowlers unlucky to miss out. Not so many batsmen.

Needs a proper lower order biffer, tbh. Pollock just doesn't cut it at #7. Can't fault the rest of the lineup.
It may not be much when we are talking about a World XI, but Pollock did average 29 with a 88 strike-rate batting at no.7 during his ODI career, so he was definitely no mug.

In the end, how many more runs will Pollock save with his bowling compared to how many more runs Klusender will make with the bat?

Pollock had an economy-rate of 3.6 in the fastest run-scoring era in ODI cricket history. That is worthy of a place in an ODI World XI.

I think Ian Botham and Malcolm Marshall were not such great ODI players
I agree to an extent Smalishah. Wrote it off the top of my mind, without checking any stats..Wanted to have an allrounder there, thought of Afridi and Botham, and went with Botham.
