Can understand why they lost, probably eased off mentally and may have had a couple of hangovers too after doing the main job.
Hope they play better in the last couple of games if only to keep it fair for the relegation battle.

Yes lot of meaningless runs, wickets and results to be had in the last week and in the next couple of weeks with all the dead games. Gotta be careful to not read too much into most of the games. Alex Gidman for instance turned a mid 20s average into high 40s last year in three dead games at the end of the season.
Still a Gary Ballance pair is not good especially as he has plenty to play for.
Guess the Test squad for UAE will be named in the next day or two. Oh **** they arrive in UAE on 30th September. Hardly qualifies as a long break.

Makes sense seeing as the league is already sorted out and there's a division 2 title decider on. Guess it fits in with Sky's Yorkshire love-in though.

Panesar released by Essex. Might be a struggle to find a new club.
England u19s could have a real nice team for the u19s World cup in Jan/Feb in Bangladesh next year. Not sure that all the players will go as some will possibly be deemed too experienced and will be better off doing other things but potentially they could lineup something like this
Lawrence, Hameed, Alsop, Burnham , J Clarke, Donald, S Curran, B Taylor, Fisher, M Crane, S Mahmood
All of them have played some first team cricket. Likes of Joe Clarke, Sam Curran and Dan Lawrence and Matt Fisher all look decent county cricketers already and should be among the best players in the tournament. Crane and Taylor are already two of England's finest spin bowling prospects (Faint praise).
Fisher and Joe Clarke played a big part in the last world cup and haven't played since for the u19s but are eligible for this one- so they may not be selected to give experience to other cricketers.
England's 1998 winning team - Peters, Key, Franks, Shah, G Swann, Schofield, Haywood, Napier, Powell, Wilton, Logan.

Sam Curran ripping through the Lancs top order. Can see Lancs going straight back down again next year unless they make some good signings. Also need to make sure Ashwell Prince doesn't retire at the end of the season (as he was due to last year). Will look better with Tom Smith back from injury but that's a bit of an if at the moment if the reports about the seriousness of his injury are anything to go by.
Ansari only been in the England squad a few hours and he's injured.

No changes to county cricket for next season. Disappointed personally. Way too much cricket happens I think. Still the suggested schedule would have been especially tough on first class spinners (no four day cricket during the middle of summer) so least we won't be getting that.

Yeah that would have been really bad. Personally I like the 3 division idea.

Looks like we got a declaration in the yorkshire hampshire game. Certainly adds a load to the game.
Probably elimiinates any chance of a declaration in the Somerset Sussex game. Neither will want to lose to the other and they'll both be keeping their fingers crossed that Hampshire lose.

lol. Yorkshire got a good deal for themselves. 300 on a day and a half old wicket to win a game they weren't winning any other way. They can't be concerning themselves with the impact it will have on other teams.
