*Official* English Football Season 2009-2010

Jesus that's nasty, Sky aren't replaying it but had a couple of ganders on Sky+ and it looks like Shawcross left his boot in and caught Ramsey midway up his shin. Ramsey's leg was hanging off at a sickening angle. :-O

That's the boy's season over.

Quite so.

Not sure it was a straight red tho, tbh. Certainly not an obviously evil tackle like Taylor's on Eduardo. Didn't appear to have his studs raised.

Pretty regulation studs-up tackle, nothing malicious about it, just very unfortunate that Ramsey's shin happened to be in the way. Just very careless.
There's nothing regulation about a studs up tackle - it's ****ing dangerous play. Careless nothing, it's no coincidence that it's Arsenal who suffer these injuries.

We're constantly told that the way to beat Arsenal is to be physical and get in amongst them.

Net result of that mindset - Eduardo and now Ramsey's injury.

Never a good sign if they don't show the replay of an injury, is it?

Loving Campbell's outrage at the incident though.. Because over about 12 years as a defender he's never brought an opposition player down, has he?

Now a 3rd for the Arse too. And cheers to Citeh as well.

Dodgy pen, IMHO, but Cesc puts it away.

Nah not dodgy they should be given more often, bloke puts his hand up away from his body, don't care if it's deliberate he's trying to gain an advantage from an illegal act.

Anyway was a clear penalty earlier not given.

How many goals has Vermaelen got now?

3-1; 3 points.

Still massively overshadowed by the injury, but at least we didn't let it get to us like it did with Eduardo v Brum in 2008.

Probably closer to 20 years for the big fella; will be 36 this year. Think the severity of the injury coloured his reaction a bit; was a bad tackle but not a really nasty one. Still not convinced on 4 viewings Shawcross had his studs up, even.

Love big Sol tho, tbh, still the best English defensive centre-half. Compare his reaction to Gallas's.

10 games left, could be the most interesting title race in years. Pretty sure I had a stinker in the tipping comp today but I don't care - I'm rooting for the Arse in the title race. Then Chelsea, obv. ABU.

Wenger & Cesc both unsurprisngly damning of the tackle.

Worringly Cesc sounded like a bloke who might've had enough, said something like "I know it's England but there's a line you don't go above."

Not to ruffle any feathers but that was hardly a red for Shawcross. Barely a yellow if anything. Only got carded because Ramsey's leg was broken. Both players went in hard there and Ramsey being unluckily injured.
