LOL at Bradburn getting selected in the first place. Stocks must have been very bare.

Game looks a bit suspect, itbt.
It was a nightmare season in terms of injuries. Cairns, Nash, Allott, Vettori etc.

Haha, after the game, I remember that the Pakistani coach claimed the side had thrown the match. I don't think anyone took it as anything other than him making desperate excuses in order to avoid getting canned.

Wow, when we are good we are very good but when we are bad we are absolutely ****.

Well played NZ. Can they complete the job?

On Tuesday I moved to Dunedin. All I brought was my clothes. I had just handed in my thesis and my student loan cut out last week. I had $50 in my pocket.

Today I had a job interview. I was offered the position within 5 mins. It is a very good job.

This morning, England gifted their wickets to Wagner and Martin, neither of whom should be taking 4 wickets against any test team on a pitch like this. Fulton and Rutherford have now scored over 120 runs without loss against a bowling attack containing the best swing bowler in the world.

I now have $30 remaining. I have heard that the black caps are staying at the casino.

Is it fate? I have never gambled in my life. Probably won't start now, and money isn't something that really makes me happy anyway... But wow. What a day.
Indeed, nice little story punched through the off-side to bring up your thousandth.

Weather?

Tomorrow looks like some showers between midday and 2.
Saturday and Sunday look alright though.

We might have enough time...

Astonishing how many good Kiwi bowlers from the time got hurt so much. What a shame.

Fair play to the NZ selectors. I thought both Wagner or Martin would be cannon-fodder if I'm honest, although I was never overly worried about Bracewell being unfit given he's done FA with the ball in the last 12 months.

Sadly something drew me to a highlights package - with all due respect to NZ we batted very badly - wondering if they missed a trick by not declaring and putting us back in tbh

btw is our squad just for the first test or all the tests? Just wondering since we may need to remove Dougeh if his foot injury is serious, or if we want two spinners or something.

Or if someone sucks (most likely option).

Anyway, if this test gets rained out the Basin test will be the decider imo. If the Eden Park test pitch is anything like the Outer Oval domestic pitch (or the ODI pitch for that matter) where Colin Munro can hit run a ball double hundreds, that game is a guaranteed draw even if both batting line ups try their hardest to make it a game.

No doubt about that. I can't remember so many wickets being gifted so easily to the opposition tbh, Compton, Cook, Trott, Bell, Prior and Broad's were handed to us on plates.

I've always thought of Vettori as being a somewhat unlucky bowler, so found it particularly ironic the left-armer he kept out for all those year takes 2 wickets from long-hops and one as a result of a lazy sweep-stroke.

If NZ can somehow bat all day and gain a lead of 200ish, England will essentially need to bat at least a day and a half to save it weather permitting.

No, it's just this test. Not sure about Eden Park tbh, we've noticed ****s like Small and Bartlett (and Finn in the ODI) have found a lot more to like on Mark Perham's tarmac than others.

If Fulton somehow survives the morning session (provided there is no rain) he needs to play some shots in the afternoon.

It will be a nervy first ten minutes for Rutherford tomorrow as I understand him to be a bad starter and re-starter.

A red letter day for New Zealand cricket. I thought we could be competitive, but never imagined this level of domination. And who in their wildest dreams would have picked Wagner & Bruce Martin on debut to get 4 wickets apiece? Or Fulton & Rutherford to put on an unbeaten hundred plus opening stand?

Well done NZ. :)

They should really aim for a 250 run lead. We have all ten wickets on a flat pitch, and just scored 130 runs without loss. I'd be disappointed if we got less than that from the current openers, Williamson, Taylor, McCullum, Watling + the bowlers are useful with the bat as well. Possibly even more really.

Annoyingly, not great. Forecast is for showers tomorrow (though not as heavy as yesterday), and it looks fairly grim on saturday too.
Yep. I'm heading down to ruin Hendrix's luck, it seems.

Also, not convinced that have the Black Caps staying at a casino is a piece of sound planning.
