WICB postpones Australia series

The ICC’s Future Tours Programme (FTP) received another major blow as the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) indefinitely postponed the home series against Australia next year. As the series was due to be played after the 2007 World Cup, the Board cited concerns over hosting two major series within such a short space of time.

This news comes on the heels of the BCCI’s indication that India would not tour New Zealand in February of next year as originally scheduled. The tour will instead be postponed to a later date, in a move that follows an indication from the Indian Board that it would no longer comply with the FTP. Outside of the ICC plan, India has already agreed to play a home and away series against Australia ever four years.

Further, Zimbabwe has suspended its Test status in the wake of severe internal struggles.
