Tendulkar out of 4th ODI v SL

Injuries continue to plague India in the build up to the World Cup, as Sachin Tendulkar has been ruled out of the final one-day international against Sri Lanka. The star batsman is suffering from a stiff back, according to the Indian board.

The injury is not considered to be serious at this time, and Tendulkar will be rested to ensure fitness for the World Cup, which starts in under a month’s time. Irfan Pathan and Ajit Agarkar are also in serious doubt for the deciding clash with Sri Lanka. The former has all but been ruled out of contention for the game.

Agarkar missed the first two games of the series with the flu and is not fully fit heading into the final game. Yuvraj Singh has also been suffering from a stiff back of late, and India may hope to ease his return to the team from a lengthy layoff.

The series is tied at one apiece with the fourth and final ODI to be contested on Saturday at Visakhapatnam.
