Tendulkar out for 8 weeks

Injury woes have gripped the career of Sachin Tendulkar once more, as the Indian batsman will miss the one-day series against England with a cyst in his right shoulder and a tear of the posterior labrum. He is expected to undergo surgery to correct the injury and will subsequently miss eight weeks of competitive cricket.

Virender Sehwag is also under an injury cloud pertaining to a back ailment, but has been recalled to the ODI squad after missing the last three one-day matches against Pakistan.

Venugopal Rao and Munaf Patel are the new names in the squad from that which beat Pakistan 4-1. Patel has bowled impressively since coming into the Test team in the ongoing series against England, and has earned a place for the first three ODI matches. He has taken 31 List-A wickets at 27 each. Venugopal Rao has been recalled, having played 11 ODIs for the moderate success of 136 runs (19.42).

Rahul Dravid (capt), Mahendra Singh Dhoni (wk), Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Yuvraj Singh, Mohammad Kaif, Suresh Raina, Irfan Pathan, Venugopal Rao, Munaf Patel, Sreesanth, Harbhajan Singh, Ajit Agarkar, Ramesh Powar, Rudra Pratap Singh.
