Speed to step down next year

Current International Cricket Council chief executive Malcolm Speed has said he will step down from the role in June of next year.

An ICC spokesman confirmed this saying “He made a decision ages ago that he was not going to seek renewal of his contract.”

The spokesman went onto say “It has long been Malcolm’s intention to retire at 60 and his current contract takes him a couple of months short of his 60th birthday.”

Malcolm Speed took over the chief executive role from Dave Richards in 2001.
