Samuels cleared for Malaysia

West Indies allrounder Marlon Samuels has been passed fit to participate in the Tri-nation Series in Malaysia later this month.

There was doubt over the 25-year-old Jamaican’s inclusion in the 14-man squad for the tournament, after he injured his right knee during the recently completed Stanford Twenty20 competition.

Samuels was tested by the West Indies Strength and Conditioning Coordinator, Bruce Cavanagh, under the watch of coach Bennett King. He was subsequently cleared for participation.

The tournament also features India and Australia, with the West Indies arriving in Malaysia of September 8. They play their first match against Australia on September 12.

West Indies Tri-Series squad:
Brian Lara (captain), Ramnaresh Sarwan (vice captain), Carlton Baugh (wicketkeeper), Chris Gayle, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Wavell Hinds, Runako Morton, Marlon Samuels, Dwayne Bravo, Dwayne Smith, Ian Bradshaw, Jerome Taylor, Fidel Edwards, Corey Collymore.
