Nash to leave Australia for WI

Australian-born batsman, Brendan Nash is switching his allegiance, as he will look to press on with his career in the West Indies. Nash, 29, having missed out on a spot with the Queensland Bulls for the upcoming 2007-08 season, hopes to play for Jamaica next year, and further to represent West Indies at international level.

His father was an Olympic swimmer for Jamaica, so Nash hopes to follow in his footsteps, albeit in an entirely different sporting discipline. He will start off by playing club cricket for Kingston, confident of getting notice by the national selectors for the Carib Series.

“I’ll give myself plenty of backing to make a go of it and weigh it up a bit further down the track, it’s all been a bit sudden,” said Nash. He departs for the Caribbean in September.
