What if?...

Flintoff and Symonds would be leading their team (presuming captains did the arm wrestle), and your Pontings, Dravids, Flemings would probably never lead their team.

What if Sourav Ganguly chose to bat first in the 2003 WC Final?
India would have scored 307 for 8 in 50 overs. australia would have won the match in the 46th over with 6 wickets in hand.

what if kapil had dropped viv richards in the 1983 WC final?

Other broadcast companies (and there are many moneyed ones in India) would come up with their leagues and demand BCCI recognition on the basis of a precedent being set. If rejected, they'd mount a case against the BCCI alleging preferential treatment in favour of Zee, and win; paving the way for either the abolishment of the ICL or recognition of multiple leagues each dipping into the same talent pool and producing diluted and insipid cricket. The current ICL sympathisers would finally be enlightened as to what 'losing the part for the sake of the whole' means.

What if the ICL and IPL never existed, Australia won the T20 World Cup, and a media company set up an ACL in Australia, stealing away their domestic players and quite a few international has-beens, before CA could launch an APL?

and that would have prevented the one-day boom that happened in india in the 80s and 90s turning it into a financial super power in world cricket. may be we would still have the old ICC (Imperial Cricket Council) calling the shots.

The hole in GIMH's heart would be filled by Tim Bresnan. The gap in the England team would, however, remain large.

What if Shane Warne was born in Birmingham?

GIMH

Norwood's on Fire
Chris Schofield wouldn't have got a central contract

What if all cricket was played with a white ball?

He'd have emigrated along with Andrew Symonds and be a larrikin Aussie cricketer.

What if Geoff Boycott had been born in Barbados?

What if: players could move between test sides for transfer fees?
The current England XI: Gayle Rogers v Jaarsveld Sarwan Rudolph Chanderpaul +Kuhn Henderson Mishra Collins Langeveldt (and they'd still be world # 7)

Edit: Fit Pietersen in there somewhere to replace Rudolph. Doesn't ruin the argument.

What if: cricket grounds were required by law to be no greater than 80 by 60 yards?

Warne would have been slapped with a ***ual harassment suit and have been banned/neutered within a year of his debut.

Would par scores in ODI cricket have been higher or lower if teams played 10 players a side?
