The later it swings, the more difficult it is to cover it with a large stride (or anything).
The more **** your technique and lack of ability to get from the crease means balls others would negate comfortabley look like world beaters.

Not really related to your post, but what do you think causes the very late swing that Steyn and Anderson extract more than 99% of other quick bowlers? Is it full shoulder rotation?

No, sorry, I refuse to believe anyone would negate that ball comfortably. Vaughan does get stuck on the crease far too much, of course he does, but that sort of delivery will dismiss anyone.

Bell flying away here, which probably means he'll hit one straight to extra-cover soon or something.

Exactly

BTW, pitch is hindering him more than anything
The odd one has gone through while most have kept pretty low.

Absolutely perfect for a very tall bowler. If it was consistently low it'd be hindrance, but with the inconsistency you couldn't wish for more.

meh, its your right to choose to believe what you want. You just believe a lot of stange stuff (this being on the very moderate side)

What's the difference?
We're right, you're wrong.

Alternatively, one says the batting side has scored so many runs in their innings for the loss of so many wickets. The other says a side has lost so many wickets in their innings for a gain of so many runs. One emphasises runs scored, one emphasises wickets lost. As it's always described as the batting team's innings, it only makes sense that the number that should receive the emphasis is the number of runs they have scored, rather than the number of wickets the fielding team have taken.

But a batsman who likes to come onto the front-foot would of negiotated that delivery, the fact that Vaughan didn't come forward as Kev said makes it look like an unplayable delivery.

No, it obviously would have found a way to dismiss him regardless of what the batsman did.

BTW didn't quite realise how small Steyn is, must be what 5'8/5'9 at most and has prbably made his success even more remarkable.
