England beat NZ tomorrow, Pak lose to Bangladesh....Semis: Aus beat Kiwis, England beat India for a second time. Finals: Aus beat England to win their 6th WC and frustrate everyone in world cricket.

The salt if England loses out on the semis will make it worth Pakistan jamming it. Add in Pakistan beating India in the semis for maximum salt.

This ain't happening. But would be the height of hilarity if it did.

It would be salt unlimited

Pak would face Oz in the semi (unless Oz lose to SA and India beat SL)

India although needs to fix their last 10 over issue while batting. Again after being in such dominant position we scored only 63 runs in last 10 overs.

Dhoni should come up to four and start at the middle overs. That's much better suited for his current batting thinking, to take it slow, build and then launch. Jadhav should be brought back to bat at five in place of Karthik. The likes of Pant and Pandya shouldn't be brought in until the 40th over.

Chahal had two straight poor games at Edgbaston, but should return to form elsewhere. Kuldeep's poor form since the IPL is worrisome. He needs to be brought back in form, but with all of Kumar, Jazz, Shami and now Pandya (for one match) among the wickets, he'll struggle to get back. Of course, he may replace Pandya, whose batting isn't for the long haul and bowling, no good bar a few lucky deliveries.

Bumrah!

Great fight from Bangladesh. Have provided superb value to this tournament.
Yeah, I know they made the qf's in 2015, but this is the first time they've been a real threat rather than just an also-ran. Wouldn't be at all surprised if they were to beat Pakistan with the way Shakib is playing at the moment.

If they can keep building in the manner they have over the past 6 years or so they'll be genuine title contenders in 2023.

They just felt much more consistent and solid this time around.

Don't know about 2023 though. Shakib might not be around and even though they've had an impressive tournament, they're still ridiculously reliant on him being great every single game.

Looks like this was a more than decent game. As others have said, teh Bangers have had a top tourney. Been a threat in virtually every game and put it together pretty well. A few key moments let them down, but Shakib has had a great tourney. Been terrific and made a meaningful contribution in just about every game.

So it looks as though the most likely scenario is, after a topsy turvey ten days, the same top four as everyone thought it would be a fortnight back.

After his last two shambolic performances Dhoni should be dropped. Today he faced the first 3 balls of the final over. First ball dot, second ball dot with refused single with a decent number 8 Kumar at the other end, third ball skied an easy catch.

There was this suggestion on the after match session that Jadeja come in the spot of Karthik and it doesn't seem to be the worst idea. Gives some protection to the bowling and he is not a slouch with the bat. Just wish we were not in this situation before our final match. The match against Australia has been the high point of our WC and since then something or the other has been off. At least Pant seems to be getting some runs.

If India ends at number 2 and we play England in the semis, I think the match will be at the same ground. Will really need to up our game for that.

Are India losing a bit of momentum here? Last few games have been pretty underwhelming. Ever since the Afghanistan match which they nearly lost.

Your'e right. Their tournament started with a spike followed by good performance and then they have tapered off. It has cost them only one loss so far. Shall be interesting, since I feel like they are due another loss. Luck has been on their side tremendously, with Rohit benefiting the most. Never know when that changes.

Yes specially given the tournament will be played on Indian surfaces.

Will be a huge mistake to pick Jadeja in place of a batsman

I would give Jadeja a game against Sri Lanka he can do no worse than Kuldeep.
This is madness. Why do so many people want Jadeja in place of specialist batsman or bowler. He can come in place of Pandya but Pandya is going so good, you wouldn't want that either.

Jadeja is versatile. Capable of triple tons 10 wicket match hauls

Bat him 5 and let him bowl out his 10

Jadeja is a great test and FC cricketer. He has been below par in ODIs though. Is neither a hitter nor a wicket taker. He would be best served as 12th man. They have used him optimally so far and would like to continue him in his current role.

Jadeja is your classic no rounder in ODIs. He's still probably better than half the spinners in the tournament but that says more about spin stocks than his ability. Anyway India has two better spinners and better all rounders.
