Which clearly explains how Steyn remained number 1 for so long when SA don't play anywhere near as much Test cricket as others...You are focusing too much on the rankings. Rankings change a lot and it is heavily influenced by a biased cricket calender that allows bigger teams to play close to 15 test matches a year and smaller teams are lucky to get half of that.
So I guess Ashwin is a big fat zero then. Or perhaps he is a negative one.Jadeja is overrated in the official ratings and Ashwin is somewhat underrated.
Checking his infinity stone
I think they'll play 5 bowlers. Probably begin with Hardik Pandya as the fast bowling AR and Aswhin as the spin bowling AR. Once that fails, they'll try Jadeja. Then the pacers will start breaking down and they'll bring back RP Singh. What do the Indian posters think will be the balance of the side when they next head overseas (well, away from spinning conditions)? 4 bowlers or will they play both Jadeja and Ashwin to give themselves five?
Dennis LilleeCan't think of two bowlers who benefited so much from home conditions as much as these two may be big Vern few years back. Murali used to feast in at home but he was very good in all other countries bar Australia and India.Ratings are ratings though they only show what you achieve not your ability so both of them have reached to the top but don't think either particularly Jadeja would be all that threatening outside the subcontinent and WI so the rankings will eventually come down once they travel more
I think Kumble will want to play both of them with 3 pacers - hopefully Kohli will agree with KumbleWhat do the Indian posters think will be the balance of the side when they next head overseas (well, away from spinning conditions)? 4 bowlers or will they play both Jadeja and Ashwin to give themselves five?
Yes Dennis feasted at home in EnglandDennis Lillee
England is as much "away" for Lillee as SL and WI are for Ashwin. Gotta cop it, weldone's got you here.Yes Dennis feasted at home in England
Well when I said home condition I specifically meant at home. Conditions in Aust and England are worlds apart but yeah both of them are overall suited to fast bowling so I can see where you coming from. That being said there isnt a specific type of conditions in Australia like its in India especially back in the day when some wickets were flat some were bouncy and some turned so don't think I can say that Lillee benefited from home conditions anywhere near to the extend Ashwim and Jadeja have with a straight face. His performances in the subcontinent are definitely poor and should go against him but they were also extremely sample sized like Murali's in Australia.England is as much "away" for Lillee as SL and WI are for Ashwin. Gotta cop it, weldone's got you here.
Jadeja can still focus on his accuracy overseas and be a restricting bowler, if not a wicket taking one. Can't think of two bowlers who benefited so much from home conditions as much as these two may be big Vern few years back. Assuming everyone is fit, we will probably go - Shami - Bhuvi - Umesh - Jadeja - Ashwin [Bhuvi/Jadeja/Aswin can all bat.] Ishant for Bhuvi in Australia. What do the Indian posters think will be the balance of the side when they next head overseas (well, away from spinning conditions)? 4 bowlers or will they play both Jadeja and Ashwin to give themselves five?
Won't bet on it.Jadeja can still focus on his accuracy overseas and be a restricting bowler, if not a wicket taking one.
Dennis Lillee Economy rate in Asia: 3.10Won't bet on it.
