Englishman
Whoah, time-out! Let's none of us say things we can't take back.Never thought I'd say this, but I wish Graeme Smith was English.

No way Kevin's gonna play in IPL, if he has antagonized ECB.Depends if he wants a test career or the money, I guess. He could sign as a local for one of the SA franchises, get IPL clearance from the SA board with his value increased as he'd be available for the whole tournament & then even sign for Hants or another county as an overseas player.
In four years he'd only be 32, so it might not even be the end of his test career; he could conceivably have another five years at the top once he'd done his residence for SA. Doubtless he's burnt a few bridges yarp-side, but genius writes its own rules, as they say.
I think there is something about recently retired players having to have special dispensation from the IPL to play within two years of international retirement (which is effectively what KP would be doing). Gilchrist for example had to have his playing okayed. I think this is to stop people just retiring to play, as the IPL doesn't want a load of 'former internationals' which would be a lot less marketable. If Pietersen doesn't sign his central contract, on what grounds can the ECB refuse a NOC for him to play a full season in the IPL?
I think it probably would, yes.And on that note... I wonder, does this affect KP's value?
I know whose actions of today I'd rather have.Whoah, time-out! Let's none of us say things we can't take back.![]()
Yup that's true to some extent, but all these recent incidents do reflect the fact that English camp really isn't in great shape atm, and whoever the next English captain is going to be, would have a tough job on his hands to turn things around by the Ashes.Don't think this'll have too much impact on the Ashes being this far out.
Yes, definitely. We need a cool head, and someone who is respected, with all the mess. It's not as if our current ODI openers have been good anyway. We can fit him somewhere in our ODI lineup fine, especially with Flintoff in balancing the side.Yup that's true to some extent, but all these recent incidents do reflect the fact that English camp really isn't in great shape atm, and whoever the next English captain is going to be, would have a tough job on his hands to turn things around by the Ashes.
Anyways its going to interesting to see who the next English captain would be, Strauss seems to be the front-runner, but considering the fact Strauss is no certainty in the ODI or T20 format of the game, would he be the right choice?
SA are in a better position than England to turn down players they don't like. Just say the SA middle order in four years looks like this: Amla, Prince, De Villiers, Duminy. Which of those players do you tell to shift to make room for the prodigal son?Depends if he wants a test career or the money, I guess. He could sign as a local for one of the SA franchises, get IPL clearance from the SA board with his value increased as he'd be available for the whole tournament & then even sign for Hants or another county as an overseas player.

It's a long time ahead to predict, of course. But would KP really want to take a chance on not only South African forgiveness, but on the careers of one of those quality players ballsing up to the extent that he'd get a look in, not to even consider the possibility of another quality batsman emerging in that time? He'd be throwing his toys out of the pram if he did.
Love Cartman and KP would probably love his mumIt's a bit like in South Park where Cartman pulls his pants down and tells the teacher to kiss his ass while his friends just stand there looking at him.
If he's registered as a local in South Africa it wouldn't matter if he curled out a stool on Hugh Morriss's desk as a parting gift. It'd be the SA board's call.No way Kevin's gonna play in IPL, if he has antagonized ECB.
Pietersen's a superior player to any of them for me, but it might not even be an issue. He could just fly the South African flag of convenience to play IPL if money was his primary concern. & if it isn't, I'd say it's top two or three concerns at worst...SA are in a better position than England to turn down players they don't like. Assuming a continuation of the quota policy, he can't take the place of Duminy, Amla or Prince.SA are in a better position than England to turn down players they don't like. SA board might get him and register. However IPL authorities simply won't allow him to play in the league. It's not a given that BCCI are amazed by Kevin's starpower. If he's registered as a local in South Africa it wouldn't matter if he curled out a stool on Hugh Morriss's desk as a parting gift. Pietersen's better than any of them, but i'd rather have all of them in my team if i were South Africa.Pietersen's a superior player to any of them for me, but it might not even be an issue. I think both scenarios are pretty possible, i think its pretty clear that Pietersen hasn't acted very sensibly through this whole incident, he has been childish in his behaviour and the way he has handled this whole episode, Moores will move on to different things after this, but Pietersen has to be the part of the same English side, and lot of them might not have been too impressed with the way he has conducted himself.SA are in a better position than England to turn down players they don't like.
