the first time i read this i was like how is this even possible

As a result of this most successful day for England, Monday's play began with Australia's score 138 for three. McCabe being 19 not out, made in 35 minutes. A record of these facts is a necessary preliminary to a description of the amazing batting which followed from McCabe and gave such an epic turn to the game. Six wickets were down for 194 and then McCabe, assisted in turn by three left-hand batsmen - Barnett, O'Reilly and McCormick - altered the whole aspect of affairs. In a little less than four hours, McCabe scored 232 out of 300 - his highest score in a Test match. His driving was tremendously hard, he hooked short balls with certainty and power, one off Farnes yielding a six, and he showed real genius in batting Hammond's efforts to keep him away from the bowling. While McCabe was running riot, the England captain delayed calling for the new ball and took other measures in the hope of keeping down runs, but the Australia, having completed his first hundred in two hours, twenty minutes, proceeded to score 4's much more readily. Wright was hit for 44 runs off three successive overs. Although he traveled so fast, McCabe did not offer a real chance, but once Edrich made a plucky effort to hold a ball hooked with terrific power. In the last ten overs bowled to him, McCabe took the strike in eight and hit 16 of his thirty-four 4's and in a last wickets stand of 77 with Fleetwood-Smith he scored 72 in 28 minutes. His glorious innings ended in a fitting way for in attempting a big hit off Verity he skied the ball to cover.

Fifth Ashes Test at Edgbaston in '85. Sir Beefy with that awful blond highlighted mullet faces his first delivery from Craig McDermott at 572-4 - straight back over his head for six - brilliant - why oh why did he let it all fall apart

the first time i saw richie's reaction to underarm delivery.

I watched that game as it happened, and a couple of things I recall are Greg Chappell being caught in the outfield by a really good catch from Martin Sneddon who dived forward to catch it, but Chappell was turning to complete a run and didn't see the catch taken, while the umpires were both looking at the creases to check for a short run. Not out. He was on 50 odd and made 70 plus.

The other was Benaud commentating with about 10 overs to go and saying he thought Chappell had stuffed his bowlers up so he'd need either his brother or a part timer to finish off. Was a pretty adroit piece of commentary.

Dennis Amiss and co. versus Roberts and Holding at the Oval, 1976.

To a small kid sitting on the boundary fence it was scary enough to leave an indelible memory. Roberts especially, even though Holding got most of the wickets.

I was at the end of the game. Rain filled day when we won. Was going to list the catch off the boot as mine.

Will go with three memories to annoy Jonno

1) clapping a Ross Taylor century at the basin reserve
2) Ian O'Brien dislocating a finger and having it put back in so he could keep bowling.
3) Richard Hadlee scoring 76 in front of me, in his last game at Eden Park and saluting the terrace (the beer drinking section) as his final act before walking off. He knew where his real fans were.

1. My earliest cricketing memory - Sachin Tendulkar's century in Perth, 1991/92 series.
2. Most devastating moment - '96 WC semifinal at Eden Gardens. I was devastated at India's batting collapse after Tendulkar's wicket, and irritated at the reactions of some grown-up spectators :(
3. Sweetest memory of watching live cricket - The Laxman-Dravid test at Eden Gardens. It was right after my class X Board Exams :)
4. Had a blast - Mumbai. 2011. Whole night at the streets of Mumbai in a car procession with thousands of colorful supporters. Bliss.

There are probably many. This is just what comes to mind right now:

- Prasad bowls Sohail after Sohail points his bat towards the boundary in 96 world cup (gives me goosebumps even now typing this). http://youtu.be/1DauvBXhKHA

- Donald clean bowls Tendulkar in 1996 Durban. http://youtu.be/79Ji-I3LvYg

- Donald chokes to get run out 1999 world cup semi final. http://youtu.be/f7BNvHI-7BE

- Winning the Kolkata test against Australia in 2001. http://youtu.be/mQGTXhqVmCQ

- Tendulkar slaps Akhtar for a six over point in 2003 world cup. http://youtu.be/52e9678oiTA

- Dhoni's six to win 2011 world cup. http://youtu.be/u7Ch52S34nE

The normal awards that everyone else has
Lee ripping thru India at the MCG in 99(?).

Siddle ripping thru someone at the MCG a few years later.

The buzz when a quick gets in the zone is amazing.

Add watching a very pissed-off Brendon McCullum walking onto the Basin Reserve from about two metres away, followed by leaving the country to watch him bring up the 300 while at home.
