Dippenaar 184 stars for SA

Boeta Dippenaar pressed an impressive claim for a Test recall, scoring 184 for the South Africans in a two-day match against the UWI (University of the West Indies) Vice Chancellor’s XI. Dippenaar’s knock was central in a total of 395/6 declared on a pitch that seemed to have little in it for the bowlers.

Dippenaar faced 278 balls and hit 21 fours and 2 sixes in his innings, before he was caught by Dhawan off Mohammed.

Other South Africans cashing in were Herschelle Gibbs (81) and Mark Boucher (64), as chinaman bowler, Dave Mohammed took 5 for 115. Returning from injury, West Indies bowlers Tino Best and Fidel Edwards produced figures of 9-1-39-1 and 10-3-38-0 respectively.

In their response to the tourists, the Vice Chancellor’s XI reached 250/5 at the close of the game.
