Few cricket books can properly be described as bestsellers, but they do come round occasionally, and this week Martin reviews one from last year.
CRICKET BOOKS
Last week Martin mentioned a whole raft of books credited to the late Alan Ross. For his review this week David has dug out another, rather more recent project, to which Ross contributed.
Although it rather took Martin by surprise it is that time of year again, so this week it is time for our twice yearly look at recent and forthcoming titles.
This week we have our last review of the first half of 2012. The honour fell to Stuart but, sadly, it would seem that the task was not particularly pleasureable.
This week Archie has been reading an anthology which, fortunately for him, has been edited by one of the best in the business.
Don’t be fooled by the title of this week’s review. We do limit ourselves to books that are about cricket, although on this occasion Martin has stretched the criteria a little.
This year is the 149th consecutive year in which the good book has made its annual appearance. This year it falls to David to review the great sporting annual.
In the coming weeks a number of Brian Johnston books are being re-released to mark the centenary of his birth. This week Martin reviews the first of them.
This week’s book won’t have been noticed by many, but as it bears the imprint of the ACS, and has Martin’s seal of approval, perhaps its appeal will now broaden a little.
English cricket rarely had a smooth ride during the 1980s and 1990s. This week David reviews the autobiography of one man who was in the thick of things back then.
