Bond confident for 2nd Test

Shane Bond is confident that he will play in the second Test against South Africa at Cape Town starting this Thursday.

Bond has not bowled for 10 days since injuring his knee, but has been resting up well, and is set to put himself to the test with a rigorous net session tonight.

A scan was done on Bond’s knee and all it showed was swelling which is good news in that it is only a minor injury.

A decision on whether Bond will play in the second Test will be made in consultation with the Black Caps medical team after two net sessions.

James Franklin and Hamish Marshall are also still struggling with injuries, with Franklin set to have a medical assessment on his left knee tomorrow.

Marshall is still having difficulty breathing after stuffering cracked ribs from being struck by a nasty Makhaya Ntini delivery in the first Test.
