Best recalled for injured Taylor

Fast bowler Tino Best has been called up as injury cover for Jerome Taylor, who was forced to return home with a hamstring injury.

Jamaican Taylor, 21, bowled just 9 overs in the first Test match against New Zealand due to his injury. This is yet another setback in an injury-ridden career for the young pacer.

Best, 24, played the last of his 12 Tests in Sri Lanka last year. He took 3 wickets in the match and then struggled on the following tour of Australia, where he did not play in any of the three Tests. Best has taken 26 Test wickets at an expensive price of 45.03 apiece.

He was set to represent the West Indies ‘A’ team in the third one-day match of the current series, being played today in his native Barbados.

It is not certain whether Best will feature in the second Test match, as Daren Powell may be favoured, having been in the original touring party. Alternatively, the selectors may opt for the underused legspin of Rawl Lewis.
