Yousuf set to miss first Test

Pakistan’s record breaking batsman, Mohammad Yousuf, is set to miss the first Test against South Africa, opting to stay at home and care for his ill wife.

A PCB official confirmed Yousuf will take no part in the first Test, starting on the 11th of January.

“Yousuf has intimated to us that his wife has a complicated pregnancy and is to be operated upon on the 12th. We are assuming he will miss the first test,” Ehsan Malik said.

Yousuf set the world alight last year when he scored 1788 runs at an astounding average of 99.33, breaking the record for the most runs and Test match centuries in a calendar year.

His omission will be a huge blow as his side attempts to beat South Africa who are running into form with the completion of their series win against India.
