Wessels emerges as new candidate

Former Australian and South African batsman, Kepler Wessels, has expressed interest in replacing Greg Chappell as coach of India.

Wessels was contacted by the BCCI regarding his interest in the job left vacant by Chappell after the World Cup and has since said he would be keen to take on the challenge.

“I am interested in the job and my agent in London is handling the issue on my behalf. He was supposed to contact the Indian board. I have left everything to him,” Wessels told an Indian newspaper.

Wessels, 49, played 40 Tests and 109 ODIs for Australia and South Africa scoring 2788 and 3367 runs respectively.
