Watson wins fitness battle

Shane Watson has pushed hard at training today and appears to have won his battle to be fit for Australia’s final Super Eight clash against New Zealand.

Watson bowled at full pace during a practice session at the La Sagesse Cricket Ground in Grenada and showed no signs of the being hampered by his calf strain.

It now appears likely that Watson will play against New Zealand in a bid to getting him match fit for the semi-final against South Africa next week.

Watson has played 62 one-day internationals and scored 933 runs at an average of 33.32 while he has taken 59 wickets at 33.84.
