Watson returns for finals

All-rounder Shane Watson has been recalled to the Australian squad for the Commonwealth Bank Series finals starting on Friday.

Watson has recovered from his hamstring injury that forced him out of The Ashes series and made his return in a Pura Cup match last week against Western Australia where he made 46 with the bat and took 3-60 with the ball.

Chairman of selectors Andrew Hilditch said on Watson’s inclusion that “Shane adds a great balance to the Australian one-day side and was an important member of the victorious Australian side at the ICC Champions Trophy.”

Shaun Tait and Stuart Clark are the unlucky ones to miss out on a spot in the finals squad after it was cut to 13 with both players returning to domestic cricket. It is believed the Tait and Clark are fighting it out for the final spot in Australia’s 15 man World Cup squad.

The finals series starts in Melbourne on Friday and moves to Sydney on Sunday and then Adelaide if required on Tuesday.
