Vettori comes in for Giles

Daniel Vettori is set to make his county debut for Warwickshire this weekend when they play Yorkshire at Headingley.

Warwickshire decided to pick Vettori up as one of their overseas players after Ashley Giles continued injury problems recently forced him out of most of the English domestic season.

Warwickshire captain Heath Streak expects Vettori to be a key component to his sides success, in helping them retain the division one championship, and playing a similar role to Giles’ within the team.

Vettori arrives on the back of a mixed tour of South Africa with the Black Caps in averaging 38.4 with the bat and 61 with the ball.

Three other New Zealand players are playing county cricket this season with Hamish Marshall at Gloucestershire, Stephen Fleming at Nottinghamshire and Scott Styris at Middlesex.
