Vaughan targets Melbourne

Michael Vaughan is targeting the Boxing Day Ashes Test in Melbourne to make his return to international cricket for England.

Vaughan has had endless knee problems over the past year but seems to be over the worst of it and is spending time with the England Academy squad in Perth to build up his fitness levels.

Vaughan told Sky Sports that “How my knee reacts to cricket and games, and spending a day in the field… only time will tell.”

“But so far the rehab has gone really well and I’m quietly confident that within a month or so I may be available for selection.”

“I just need games of cricket really, spending days in the field and hopefully a few hours at the crease batting, and let’s just see how it responds to that sort of activity.”

Vaughan has played 64 Tests for England and averages 42.94 with the bat with 15 hundreds and 14 fifties to his name.
