Vaughan set for comeback

Michael Vaughan is ready to return to competitive cricket, he will play for Yorkshire next week.

He will make his return either in tomorrow’s Cheltenham and Gloucester Trophy fixture against Scotland, or Wednesday’s County Championship tie with Hampshire.

Vaughan has a history of knee trouble, and suffered the latest injury in Pakistan. He missed the first Test against them, but recovered for the second and third. He returned home for surgery, missing the one-day series.

He was scheduled to return in India, but pulled out of a tour match with soreness in his knee, and subsequently returned home. When he does return, it will be a huge boost for them, he will regain the captaincy from Andrew Flintoff and probably take Alistair Cook’s number three spot.
