Vaughan out for a duck in return

Michael Vaughan made a disappointing return to cricket in making a seven ball duck for the England Academy against a Western Australia 2nd XI.

Vaughan was caught behind by Christian Moirby off the bowling of Darren Wates who was the captain of the WA side.

The England Academy captain Rob Key won the toss and sent Western Australia into bat and they made a respectable 218-8 in what were tough conditions.

England failed to impress and were at one stage 12-5 before a recovery was made.

Vaughan fielded in two one-hour spells and impressed the Academy boss Peter Moores who said he was progressing well but it was a day by day recovery process and all involved with conscious of not rushing his full come-back.

Vaughan is remaining with the Academy side and will also play the Australia’s Chairman’s XI at Lilac Hill on December 8 and a two-day game against WA from December 9.
