Vaughan fit for Faisalabad

England captain Michael Vaughan has been declared fit to play in the second test at Faisalabad. Vaughan missed England’s defeat at Multan, and Paul Collingwood is the likeliest option to make way for him, with Vaughan taking his usual number 3 position and Ian Bell dropping to 4.

He missed the First Test with a knee injury that has troubled him before, after aggravating it in a tour game. The England skipper said: “I thought the tour was over for me last week, but it is amazing that these things can turn around. There is a slight risk if I do play but I’m willing to take that risk.”

Vaughan also praised physio Kirk Russell, for his part in making him fit: “He has worked almost day and night to try and get it right, and I am glad to be playing again, because I did not like watching.”
