Tributes Flow for Walter Hadlee

Players and fans gathered at Walter Hadlee’s former school in Christchurch for a memorial service to commemorate the life of one of New Zealand’s most famous cricketers and elder statesmen.

Walter Hadlee wore many hats in the development of New Zealand cricket. He was player, captain and administrator to name a few. The memorial service not only spoke about Hadlee the cricketer, but also the private Walter Hadlee, who was devoutly religious and a keen gardener.

Don Neely, recently appointed President of New Zealand cricket, and friend of the Hadlee family said “Hadlee had the ability to transcend class and status and treat every man, woman and child with dignity and respect. Tvnz.co.nz reported. “His life comprehended the entire history of New Zealand Test cricket.”
