Third place for the Netherlands

The Netherlands will have to be content with third place in the ICC World Cricket League tournament behind Scotland and Kenya. However, they finished on a winning note, defeating Ireland by just six runs at the Gymkhana Club Ground in Nairobi.

Ireland won the toss and chose to field first. In a match shortened to 46 overs, the Netherlands made 260 with the loss of seven wickets.

The Netherlands displayed some solid batting performances. Darron Reekers made 104 from 84 balls before being run out by Andre Botha. He was dropped twice, at 56 then again at 64. Eric Szwarczynski finished the innings not out on 56.

For Ireland, William Porterfield made 84 and Eoin Morgan made 94. After these innings Ireland could not sustain partnerships, and fell short of the total set by the Netherlands by six runs.
