Styris in cotton wool?

Scott Styris’ return to international cricket could be put on hold to ensure he plays in next year’s World Cup in the West Indies.

New Zealand radio station Newstalk ZB have said that Styris is planning on making a comeback next month for the Auckland Aces, but may miss the Commonwealth Bank Tri-Series in Australia to ensure he pulls through for the World Cup.

Styris suffered a slipped disc and a tear in his back earlier this year while playing for Middlesex in the County Championship. Although he was declared fit for the Champions Trophy in October, he suffered a re-occurrence of the injury during the tournament which has kept him out of all cricket since.

The plan Styris has said is to give himself an extended rest and look at returning to domestic cricket in the new year and seeing where that takes him.
