Sidebottom on the sidelines

English fast bowler Ryan Sidebottom has been left out of the first ODI against India this week, after suffering from a side strain.

Sidebottom was a surprise inclusion in the one-day side, having played only three ODIs in his career to date and only one recent match; against the West Indies where he took 2/56 from nine overs.

Sidebottom hurt himself in the final Test against India at The Oval and was unable to bowl in the second innings. He will be re-examined after the first ODI at the Rose Bowl on Tuesday.
