Shoaibs and Asifs wait extended

The tribunal investigating the positive drugs tests of Pakistani fast bowlers Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad Asif has extended its inquiry until Wednesday.

The PCB tribunal, consisting Shahid Hamid, barrister, Intikhab Alam, ex-Pakistan captain, and Waqar Ahmed, doping expert, will take statements from Pakistan coach Bob Woolmer and two of his backroom staff – trainer Murray Stevenson and physio Darren Lifesun – before compiling its findings.

Both Shoaib and Asif declined the opportunities to have retests on their B samples after testing positive for nandrolone, a banned steroid on October 16th. If found guilty on Wednesday, both men face a two year ban, the minimum for a first offence under the ICC’s doping laws.
