Shoaib, Asif ban overturned

Pakistani fast bowlers Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad Asif have had their drug bans overturned after an appeal to the Pakistan Cricket Board in Karachi.

The PCB tribunal appointed to hear the appeal found that the pair had not committed a doping offence after initially finding them guilty for testing positive for the banned steroid nandrolone.

The three man appeals committee found two to one that the punishments given for drugs offences were not suitable and both players are now free to return to cricket.
