Shoaib appeals two-year ban

Shoaib Akhtar has issued an appeal against his two-year ban for being found guilty of taking the banned steroid nandrolone.

A Pakistan Cricket Board official told Reuters that “we have received Shoaib’s appeal today which was the last date for filing appeals.”

“Shoaib has intimated to us that he intends to contest the ban and wants his appeal to be heard by the appeals tribunal as soon as possible,” the official went on to say.

Mohammad Asif has also issued an appeal against his one-year ban for the same offence and it will be heard by the same panel that will chair Shoaib’s appeal.

The date for the appeals has not as yet been set by the hearing panel.
