Sehwag to lead India

Virender Sehwag will lead India against Sri Lanka in the sixth Videocon Cup ODI tomorrow at Rajkot, as Rahul Dravid takes a rest to nurse his hamstring injury.

Dravid didn’t take the field during the second half of the last ODI, after being marred by severe cramps during his innings of 103. Although he isn’t seriously injured, and could easily play in tomorrow’s ODI, the management just wants to make sure that there isn’t an aggravation so that he can be back playing in the final ODI.

Another player to be rested is S Sreesanth, who has featured in three of the fives matches in the series thus far. Irfan Pathan, who was rested the last match, is sure to return in his place.

Meanwhile, VR Singh, who was named in the squad for the last two ODIs just yesterday, will not make his debut tomorrow, as he has been ruled out with an ankle injury. He failed to pass a fitness test, and Jai Prakash Yadav has been called up as his replacement in the squad.

Yadav though, will have to wait till the final match at Baroda to play, since he isn’t likely to reach Rajkot in time, as he had already left for home after being left out.
