Proteas to stay after bomb blast

South Africa’s tour plans remain unchanged following a bomb blast in the Sri Lankan capital Colombo on Wednesday that killed two people including a child.

The blast was a car bomb that was detonated near a college in a residential area. The target was understood to be a Tamil politician.

Sri Lanka government forces are currently involved in continued fighting against Tamil Tiger rebels who have been blamed for this attack.

South Africa are currently preparing for the one-day international tri-series in Sri Lanka that also involves India.

South Africa media manager Gordon Templeton said the fulltime security expert they have on tour is perfectly happy with the teams safety and he does not consider the tour party to be in danger.

South Africa’s first game of the tri-series is on 14th August against Sri Lanka at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium.
