Pollock to miss first Test

Shaun Pollock has been confirmed to miss the first Test between South Africa and West Indies in Guyana, because of a persistent left ankle trouble.

Pollock missed the recent home Test series against Zimbabwe, because of the same. In fact, he will not travel with the rest of the squad to the Caribbean, on Wednesday. Instead, he will stay back in Durban to undergo treatment, and subsequent rehabilitation.

No replacement has been named for Pollock, as both Andre Nel and Charl Langeveldt, who were considered doubtful for at least the first part of the tour, have been passed fit.

Meanwhile, Jacques Kallis still hasn’t passed fit to bowl, and will have to undergo a test for the same just before the Test, which starts on March 31 at Georgetown.
