Percy Sonn passes away

International Cricket Council President Percy Sonn has passed away today in Cape Town, aged 57.

Sonn suffered complications during a minor colon operation last week and was in a critical condition leading up to his death.

Sonn became president of the ICC in July 2006 after a long career in cricket administration, including the presidency of the United Cricket Board of South Africa. His tenure at the head of world cricket include the recent 2007 World Cup in the Caribbean.

It is unclear who will replace him at the head of the ICC with last year’s election ending in a tie between David Morgan and Sharad Pawar.
